#9 Shuswap Delight
A hardy Porcelain type that will grow well, keep well, and is lovely tasting. A burnished look to this lovely bulb.
Averages 4 to 6 cloves per bulb and keeps for 6 to 8 months.
#10 Russian Red Rocambole
Russian Red has a strong garlic flavour and a warm sweet aftertaste. Not the same as the Red Russians above!
This variety is heirloom type brought to British Columbia by Doukhobor immigrants from Russia in early 1900's.
Rocamboles are considered by many as being the best tasting of all the garlics, they have a thin skin around the cloves which is very easy to peel.
On average 8 cloves per bulb, stores for 4 to 5 months.
All varieties are $3.75/bulb.
Buy 10 or more, $3.65/bulb.
Buy 20 or more, $3.50/bulb
Order just one variety, or a mixed bag.
Mixed bags can be mix of hardnecks of your choosing, or leave it to me to pick for you. Just tell me the quantity of bulbs that you would like.
If you want softnecks, please specify in your email.
*Note.. Here is a titch more cultivar info for those of you are interested... The rest of us can just ignore this and grow whatever we like ; )
*Filipino and Deep Purple are in the same cultivar group (Turbans).
*Red Russian and Purple Russian are both in the same cultivar group (Marbled Purple Stripe).
*Susan, French, Shuswap, and Yugo are all in the same cultivar group (Porcelain). Very hardy and easy to grow.
The Russian Red is my only Rocambole this year. It is the gourmet garlic, the chef’s preferred type. Does not like wet feet so make sure to have good draining soil.
